Growth

The Yellow Scallop Squash plant is a vigorously growing annual bush, who’s vines can reach as far as 1 metre (3 feet), so they do need a bit of room to stretch out. Yellow Scallop Squash enjoy a warm climate with 6-8 hours of full sun per day. Seeds germinate easily but a higher percentage is achieved when soil temperatures are between 21° and 30 °C (70° to 86 °F). If started indoors it is recommended that transplanting waits until daytime temperatures exceed 25 °C (77 °F).

The fruit can grow quite large if left unharvested but the flavour and texture will suffer. This variety is best picked  once the squash has changed from green to yellow and are still only 5-9 cm’s (2-3.5 inches) wide.
